Mark S. Sothmann Scholarship Fund for the Advancement of Science
Mark S Sothmann, Ph.D. had a 40-year career as a faculty member at several research universities. Dr. Sothmann was a professor in the MUSC College of Health Professions from 2007-2017, and served as its dean from 2007-2011. He then served as MUSC vice president for academic affairs, provost, and interim president. Dr. Sothmann implemented numerous strategies that markedly elevated the College’s national stature in scientific research. Among these was the development of the Ph.D. in Health and Rehabilitation Science. In recognition of his leadership and achievements, the College of Health Professions honored Dr. Sothmann with the establishment of an expendable scholarship in his name in January 2012. The scholarship reached endowment status in February 2023.
Selection Criteria:
- Students in pursuit of the PhD degree in Health and Rehabilitation Science
