William Harris Mathis, Jr., M.D. Endowed Scholarship

Dr. William Mathis (Class of 1943) was the first radiologist in Cobb County, GA. Prior to practicing medicine, he spent two years in the US Army Medical Corps. He was influenced in his decision to become a physician by his father, who was a physician and by his mother, who was a nurse.

Selection Criteria:

• Merit
• Students who exhibit outstanding intellectual qualities and potential for the study of medicine
• Awarded to an incoming student with continuation, pending satisfactory academic and professionalism progress
