Smith Family DHA Scholarship

Stuart Smith joined MUSC as a hospital administrative resident in 1973 and has been instrumental in numerous activities from the establishing the medical center’s first comprehensive strategic plan to the opening of Ashley River Tower. In 2012 he retired as vice president for clinical operations and executive director of the medical center after 40 years of service. He and his wife Barbara have established a number of philanthropic funds at MUSC and other institutions, including two other endowed scholarship funds within the MUSC College of Health Professions Department of Healthcare Leadership and Management.

In establishing this scholarship fund, Barbara and Stuart envision providing opportunites for students in MUSC’s Doctor of Health Administration program. The Smiths are passionate about supporting students who are poised to become leaders in the healthcare realm. For this reason,Barabara and Stuart established this fund as an endowment designed to grow into perpetuity.
